Dr. Jane Rodd

Jane Rodd, Ph.D., BHSI, 

USDF Certified Training-4th level

Jane’s career has centered on educating and training all ages but especially youth. An English citizen, Jane graduated with a Bachelors degree in Education, specializing in program administration and evaluation. She qualified as a British Horse Society Instructor (BHSI) and became a senior faculty member at the prestigious Hartpury College, training students in dressage, jumping and eventing, and running International competitions.

She moved to the US in 2000 as senior trainer at the Millbrook Equestrian Center, NY, an 80-stall commercial equestrian facility. From there she became Director of Training and Education at Cricket Hill Farm and Academy, a 501(c)3 in New York state. In March 2013, she accepted a position as Executive Director of Green Mountain Horse Association in VT. 

Between 2008 and 2013, Jane completed a Masters, then Ph.D., in Educational Psychology at the University at Albany with the goal of becoming a more accomplished educator, applying research-based theories of learning to real-world situations. In her dissertation, she investigated motivation for life-long learning in a population of over 1000 amateur riders. Jane is a member of the United States Dressage Association Instructor Faculty, and a certified 4thlevel USDF Instructor.

Currently, Jane works as the Youth Development Program Leader for Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County, where she designs and oversees diverse programming for over 500 youth. With over 30 years of experience in the field of education, program design and evaluation, and high-level administration, Jane is able to connect theory to practice and produce outstanding results, both in the classroom and in real-world settings.
