Gwyneth McPherson

Gwyneth McPherson has over 30 years of experience competing, training and teaching in dressage. With three US Olympians; Lendon Gray, Carol Lavell and Michael Poulin as mentors, she has a unique perspective and a wealth of knowledge to share. She started her own business, Forward thinking Dressage in December, 2017.

 Gwyneth was the Director and Lead Trainer at the Equestrian Center at Pineland Farms, from 2004 to 2017, where she oversaw all of the training and instruction, as well as managing a 30 stall barn and 10 employees, while maintaining a busy competition schedule with Pineland Farms’ horses. Currently, she operates Forward Thinking Dressage at Broad Park Equestrian Center, a sixteen stall barn, in Gray, Maine.

Gwyneth received her first National Championship title in 1984, at age 13, on a kill-pen rescue horse named Jeremy. She was a double gold medalist in the North American Young Rider Championships in 1987, and received a Team Bronze and Team Silver medal in 1991 and 1992. Riding three different horses, President, Rasta and G’Dur, she was one the few Young Riders in this country that has competed at NAYRC every year she was eligible.

Gwyneth is a USDF Bronze, Silver and Gold Medalist, with multiple other national titles, most recently including 2014 USDF National Championship at First Level on Pineland Farms’  Eskandar. She has competed multiple horses for Pineland Farms, from Training Level to Grand Prix, including Pineland Farms’ Flair, a Westfalian mare that Gwyneth found in Holland as a 4 year old, and trained to the Grand Prix level, as well as Lawool, a Grand Prix horse trained by Michael Poulin,who was 2010 Region 8 Open Grand Prix Champion with Gwyneth.. Currently, Gwyneth is developing two new horses of her own, Dio de la Guerra and Foster RW, and plans to compete both horses for the first time in the 2019 season.
