Stephanie Mills, MD MHCM
Stephanie is a pediatrician and health care executive who focuses on transformation of provider and payer organizations across the health care spectrum. She is a graduate of The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Harvard University. Early in her career, Stephanie began riding hunters and jumpers as a form of stress relief. Little did she know that she would one day be the mother of a son who fell in love with horses and dressage.
As a pediatrician, Stephanie became fascinated with the positive impacts of riding on children and then experienced it firsthand with her own child, Ben. During the pandemic, when schools closed initially, Stephanie, her husband, Dr. Andy McWhorter, and Ben, moved to their farm in rural Louisiana. With lots of open space and several ponies to ride, Ben’s love of horses grew. At some point, he took his first dressage lesson, which led to his first Dressage4Kids TEAM clinic, followed by incredible experiences in the equestrian world which are continuing to shape his development as a junior rider. Along the way, Stephanie and Andy became dedicated supporters of D4K, hosting numerous TEAM clinics at their farm in Louisiana and participating in the WIT, SIT, Horse Donation, and Horsemastership programs.
When asked what motivates her most about Dressage4Kids, Stephanie writes, “To witness Lendon’s unwavering commitment to the well-being and development of children and horses is beyond amazing. I love that Dressage4Kids is continually innovating, identifying opportunities and taking action to help riders and families within the sport and along their future paths in life. It is truly an honor to work alongside Lendon and others in the D4K family to contribute to the ongoing mission, vision, and values of this outstanding organization.”
